Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I
need to file a complaint in the District Court. Can you
prepare the complaint for me?
A: While we want to
assist our clients as much as possible, we cannot prepare any legal
pleadings for the general public. To do so would constitute
practicing law without a license and is subject to criminal
prosecution. However, if you have procedural questions about
the District Court, we would be glad to walk you through the
process.
Q: My husband and I are
divorced and he isn't paying child support. Who can I contact
to enforce my child support order?
A: It depends upon
the county in which your order is entered. In most cases, you
should contact the Office of Child Support Enforcement in the
Circuit Court of your county. They can direct you to the
appropriate agency for your case. You can also get information
from the
Department of Human Resources - they are the State agency that
oversees all child support offices. They can tell you where
your local office is located and provide you with contact
information.
